What is a Bid Directory?
A bid directory is a link directory that lets the user increase their rank in the directory by placing bids. Link bid directories break from the traditional paid directory model with the bid model of paid listings. For many Webmasters and directory owners the bid model offers some great advantages.
Traditional paid link directories usually offer fixed price listings for review/approval into the directory. The user often has the option of moving their link to the top with a “featured listing” that further increases the price. For the user who is submitting to a directory, the bid model has some obvious appeal. It’s common for a traditional featured listing in a sub-category alone to cost $9.95 to $39.95. Many well promoted bid directories allow a budget-minded site owner to move their link to page one of their category for just a few bucks.
